Meditation

Meditation seems to be a new trend that’s going around but practice of meditation has been around for as long as we have been alive.  Meditation is often used to clear the mind and ease many health issues, such as high blood pressure, insomnia, depression, anxiety, and helps with stress reduction, relaxation, clarity, focus and so much more.

There are so many forms of meditation and you may find it hard to figure out how to meditate or what it’s supposed to feel like.  But there is really no right way or wrong way to meditate.

I started offering guided group meditation because I knew how hard it was for some people to learn to meditate on their own.  So for those that want to receive the benefits of meditation, a guided meditation is a great way to start.  Beginners as well as those that have practiced meditation for many years can benefit from guided meditations.

Guided meditation feels like someone is reading you a bedtime story.  You just have to relax and use your imagination as you are guided through the process.

For those that have a hard time meditating on their own, you can try this easy breathing technique, which will help you to relax so you can gain focus and clarity.

It’s best to take your time and bring your attention to your breathing, and just notice yourself breathing in and breathing out and how that feels.  Breathing is such a normal, natural way to allow ourselves to relax.

Each time you exhale, exhale slowly.  With each exhale imagine, out flows all your cares, all your worries, and stress, tension, problems, in fact imagine that with each exhale, out flows anything that is inconsistent with your total best health.

And with each inhale flows clean refreshing oxygen.  Feel the oxygen flowing into the lungs to be picked up by the bloodstream to flow throughout the circulatory system, to every cell of your body. Feel the oxygen bringing sustenance, healing, cleansing, and relaxation to every cell of the body.

And anytime you wish to go deeper, you may take a deep breath and go deeper.  Taking deep breaths is something we can do anytime, anytime we want to feel centered and relaxed. Anytime we feel stressed out, anxious, irritable, or any number of emotions. All we need to do is take a few deep breaths and allow ourselves to become centered and relaxed.

You mind will slow down with each breath and you will be able to let go of the daily stresses. Try this every day, even if it’s only for 5 minutes.  You will see each time you practice the breathing technique, it will become easier and easier for to you.
